Journey Song is a nonprofit corporation registered with the N.H. Attorney General's Charitable Trusts Unit. It is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Journey Song’s activities are supported by member dues and charitable contributions from individuals and corporate sponsors. Overhead expenses are low, comprised principally of the Music Director’s salary, rehearsal space, the purchase of sheet music, and community outreach activities. Members volunteer considerable amounts of their time to rehearsals, sings, and governance activities. The group has a cash reserve equivalent to two years’ of budgetary draw.
